About Cardinal Quintet

Background

Hi! We're the Cardinal Quintet: a dynamic and exciting wind quintet based in Manchester, U.K.

Formed during our undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, we perform regularly around the North West, and are passionate about performing wind chamber music to the highest standards.

The Sondheim Project

In 2026, Cardinal members Anna and Esmé decided to start a project which encompasses their love for both chamber music and the music of Stephen Sondheim. The Sondheim Project commissioned 5 new arrangements of some of Sondheim's most popular songs for a variety of chamber ensembles, and the parts will soon be publicly available via Musescore for groups to use free of charge.
